We are pleased to offer children's dentistry at our office. We enjoy treating children all ages and understand that a positive dental experience is one where a child feels safe, secure, and at ease.

Your Child's First Dental Visit

The American Association of Pediatric Dentistry recommends bringing children for their first dental visit upon the arrival of their first baby tooth or by age one. This seems early to many parents, but there's actually quite a lot that dentists can do to positively influence your baby's future oral health at this age.

If we can see your child before a problem arises, our team can work with them in a stress-free manner and reinforce a positive attitude about dental visits. The first visit is meant to be low-key and a fun adventure for your child. We will let them explore some of our equipment, count their teeth, and let them take a ride in the dental chair.

As a parent, you play a crucial role in protecting your child's oral health. Our team will show you how to brush and floss your baby's teeth and address any questions or concerns you have.

Dentistry for Children of All Ages

It's essential to do everything we can to protect baby teeth until they are ready to come out on their own. Not only do healthy baby teeth help your child learn to chew solid foods and speak clearly, but they also hold space for permanent teeth to have room to emerge correctly.

If your child gets a cavity, we need to fill it to keep the baby tooth strong and healthy. As your child loses baby teeth and gain permanent teeth, our team will provide age-appropriate dental care, including exams, cleanings, dental sealants, and fluoride.

Falls and accidents are common in childhood, as are dental injuries from sports activities. Dental trauma at a young age can lead to long-term damage, so we strongly encourage all parents to make sure their children wear mouth guards. We customize strong and durable mouth guards that offer far greater protection than generic mouth guards do.

Do you see kids in your office?

Yes! Our team loves meeting children of all ages. We mainly provide preventive care for children, such as exams, teeth cleanings, fluoride application, and sealants.

We do our best to make your child’s visits as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. You are welcome to stay with your child in the exam room or hold them on your lap, and our ceiling and chairside TVs help keep them occupied while we treat them.

If your child requires further treatment beyond routine visits, we will refer you to a trusted pediatric dentist who is specially trained to work with children with more complex dental needs.

Dr. Suman Vidyarthi

Dr. Suman Vidyarthi (“Dr. Suman”) received his undergraduate degree in biology from Duke University in 1997. He then attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2004. With a strong desire to advance his skills and knowledge, Dr. Suman completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry at UNC in 2005.
