What We Look For at Your Preventive Visits
Your preventive care is tailored to your individual needs and dental history. Depending on the visit, it may include:

Treating Some Early Cavities Without a Filling
A cavity does not begin as a hole in a tooth. In its earliest stage, tooth decay can exist beneath an enamel surface that is still intact. When we identify certain lesions at this stage, a traditional filling may not always be necessary.
Renaissance Family Dentistry offers Curodont® Repair, a biomimetic remineralization treatment designed for appropriate early-stage cavities. The treatment uses peptide technology to create a microscopic framework within the weakened enamel, helping calcium and phosphate from your saliva remineralize the affected area and form new hydroxyapatite.
For the right lesion, this gives us an opportunity to treat early decay without drilling, anesthetic injections, or traditional filling material while preserving the natural tooth structure. Curodont is not appropriate for every cavity, and once tooth structure has broken down, a restoration may still be the better treatment.
This is a good example of our overall philosophy: when there is a predictable, conservative way to preserve healthy tooth structure, we want our patients to have that option.
Healthy Gums Matter Too
Preventive dentistry also means paying close attention to the tissues supporting your teeth. We evaluate gum health using periodontal measurements, clinical findings, and appropriate radiographs rather than treating every patient with the same type of cleaning.
For patients with healthy gums or gingivitis, a routine preventive cleaning may be appropriate. When periodontal disease is present, treatment may require scaling and root planing followed by periodontal maintenance. Our goal is to diagnose the condition accurately and recommend the level of care that actually matches what we find.
