Crowns & Bridges

Your teeth are built to last and can withstand a tremendous amount of force. But they are no match for years of wear and tear, cavities, and teeth grinding habits that often result in decayed, broken, or missing teeth. If you have broken or missing teeth, a crown or bridge may be an option for you.
What Are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that encircles the entire structure of a tooth. The crown conceals the damaged tooth beneath, protects it from chewing forces, and strengthens the tooth so you can chew on it again.
Dental crowns protect, strengthen, conceal, and restore numerous dental issues that include:
- A tooth with a large cavity
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Dental wear from teeth grinding
- A tooth that already has multiple fillings
- A root-canal treated tooth
- Restore a dental implant to form and function
- A discolored or badly stained tooth
If you are getting a crown, you can plan on two appointments at our office, spaced two to three weeks apart. The first involves preparing the tooth, taking a scan, and making a temporary crown to wear until your final crown is ready. We work with a top-quality dental laboratory that will prepare your restoration to our exact specifications. Then, when your final crown is ready in about 2-3 weeks, we will adjust it for fit and cement it firmly in place.
Dental Bridges: A Solution for Missing Teeth

Dr. Suman will recommend a dental bridge if there are one or two missing teeth in the same spot in your smile. Bridges span the gap left by the missing tooth by placing an artificial tooth in the open space and securing it to adjacent teeth with dental crowns for support.
Getting a bridge is similar to getting a dental crown, and the process can usually be completed in 2-3 visits.
While we do not offer bridges at our office, Dr. Suman can refer you to a trusted prosthodontic specialist who will provide a high-quality, durable, and natural-looking bridge.
