Crowns & Bridges
At Renaissance Family Dentistry, we offer services like dental crowns and bridges for patients in Durham and surrounding areas who want a personalized solution to restore their smiles. Dr. Suman Vidyarthi enjoy's the science and artistry involved with customizing dental restorations and delivering high-quality, durable crowns and bridges.
Our teeth are built to last and can withstand a tremendous amount of force. But they are no match for years of wear and tear, cavities, and teeth grinding habits that often result in decayed, broken, or missing teeth.
What Are Dental Crowns?
Crowns are also known as “caps,” because our Durham dentists customize them to encircle the entire structure of a tooth. The crown conceals the damaged tooth beneath, protects it from chewing forces, and strengthens the tooth so you can chew on it again.
Dental crowns protect, strengthen, conceal, and restore numerous dental issues that include:
- A tooth with a large cavity
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Dental wear from teeth grinding
- A tooth that already has multiple fillings
- A root-canaled tooth
- Restore a dental implant to form and function
- A discolored or badly stained tooth
If you are getting a crown, you can plan on two appointments at our Durham dental office, spaced two to three weeks apart. The first involves preparing the crown tooth, taking impressions, and making a temporary crown to wear until your final crown is ready.
At Renaissance Family Dentistry, we believe that the best dental crowns are the ones that no one notices. We work with only top-quality dental laboratories in our area that prepare your restoration to our exact specifications. When your final crown is ready in about 2-3 weeks, we will adjust it for fit and cement it firmly in place.
Dental Bridges: A Solution for Missing Teeth
Adult tooth loss is a much more common problem in the US than most people think. Adults of all ages suffer tooth loss, and at Renaissance Family Dentistry, we offer tooth replacement with dental bridges to restore your smile.
Dr. Suman will recommend a dental bridge if there are one or two missing teeth in the same spot in your smile. Bridges span the gap left by the missing tooth by placing an artificial tooth in the open space and securing it to adjacent teeth with dental crowns for support.
Getting a bridge is similar to getting a dental crown, and we can usually complete the process in 2-3 visits.
